Clinical domain-specific and cross-domain research

At Rondom, the quality of care is central. Scientific research plays an important role in this. By conducting research and applying the results in daily practice, we expand our knowledge and continue to improve care.

Within this research domain, we conduct clinical research that directly addresses questions arising from clinical practice. We investigate how symptoms and conditions arise, how they can best be diagnosed, which treatments and preventive interventions are effective, how conditions progress, and which care offers the greatest value for both patients and society. In doing so, we focus, amongst other things, on aetiology, diagnostics, treatment, prevention, prognosis, clinimetry and cost-effectiveness.

Clinical domain-specific research

Part of our research focuses on one specific field, such as podiatry, lifestyle coaching, psychology or one of our other disciplines. Within these fields, we deepen our knowledge and develop, evaluate and improve diagnostic methods, treatments and interventions. In this way, we strengthen the scientific basis of care within each field.

Clinical cross-domain research

Many health problems are influenced by a combination of physical, mental and social factors and require collaboration between different disciplines. That is why we are also investigating the effects of integrated, person-centred care, in which several healthcare professionals work together to contribute to the patient’s treatment and support.

We are investigating whether this integrated approach leads to better health outcomes, a higher quality of life and more appropriate and effective care than care provided by a single discipline. In this way, we are building scientific knowledge about the added value of collaboration across disciplinary boundaries.
